Julie was born and raised in Juneau and has lived most of her life here. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Arizona State University, and her MBA from the University of Alaska Southeast. Holding her CPA license for more than 30 years, Julie has worked in public accounting (Deloitte & Touche [Seattle], Elgee Rehfeld [Juneau], and Wolfe & Hamilton [Juneau]), as well as non-profit (Juneau Youth Services as CFO) and governmental/investment accounting (Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation as Controller and CFO), and recently completed her professional career at the University of Alaska Southeast as an Associate Professor of Accounting (2012-2022).
Giving back to the community has always been a priority for Julie, and she has been involved with many non-profit and community organizations over the years. Currently, in addition to JCF, she serves on the boards of Cancer Connection, the Juneau Yacht Club, and the Dermott O’Toole Memorial Library in Tenakee Springs, and is also a member of Juneau’s 100+ Women Who Care giving circle.
Julie’s daughter (Emily Keithahn), father (Dick), and sister (Heidi) all live in Juneau, and in addition to spending time with them and her friends, she enjoys cooking, traveling, hiking, boating, spending time at her cabin in Tenakee Springs, and hanging out with her two rescue cats, Smokey and Hobgoblin.
