An agency endowed fund, established by former Food Bank board member Jim Wilcox, to support the mission and work of the Southeast Alaska Food Bank.
In fiscal year 2022, the Food Bank distributed over 400,000# of food for the 5th year in a row. We have never seen a larger demand at our public pantries than what we have in the last year.
Before the pandemic, the Food Bank would average 60-90 people at our one Saturday pantry. Since then, we have had to add a second pantry to our weekly schedule. We now do pantry’s on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s. (Tue 1:30 – 3:00) and (Thurs. 4:00 – 5:30). With both of these pantry’s running weekly, we see an average of 225- 275 people per week needing food assistance.
We currently have 26 members who partner with the SEAFB. Most are in Juneau, however we do have 2 in Hoonah and one in Pelican.
Looking toward the future, SEAFB will need to expand capabilities to be able to purchase even more food, warehouse more food, and distribute even more food for the community.
