The Parks, Trails, and Recreation Endowment is a flexible endowment to meet the changing recreational needs of Juneau over time. While no one can predict what future needs will be, together we can ensure that generations to come will have the philanthropic resources to address emerging needs and opportunities in this area. Juneau’s love of recreating outdoors and inside will continue to be a vital part of living in Southeast Alaska, contributing to the Parks Trails and Recreation Endowment is an easy and efficient way to make a difference. Gifts of all levels help grow this endowment and enable a future stream of funding for this area. The current goal is to grow this endowment to $1M while continuing to provide significant funding for the parks we play in, the trails we enjoy, and the recreation we need.
Grantmaking
Board leaders and community champions request projects and meet to consider which to support. Consideration will include community interest, sources of matching or contributing funding, and ability to complete the project.

Fund Development and Fee
People who want to leave a personal or family legacy can create a named Community Wellness Fund, e.g., the John and Jane Doe Parks, Trails & Recreation fund. Grants from these named funds will be awarded in the same way as the Parks, Trails & Recreation Endowment. The Foundation charges a 1% fee to administer and build the fund and carry out annual grant making.
