Community members frequently cite the spectacular natural beauty and stunning wild places that surround us as one of the best things about living here. The Juneau Community Foundation builds on that strength by supporting year-round opportunities for recreation enthusiasts of all backgrounds and ages. Enhancing our trails and revitalizing our neighborhood parks and recreation areas are community goals identified by residents. By increasing access to area trails and cabins, promoting education about natural resources and wildlife, and supporting existing organizations and initiatives, the Foundation and our supporters play an active role in ensuring Juneau’s outdoor and indoor options are safe and plentiful. Our goal is to increase local philanthropy to build near and long term recreation benefits for Juneau.
Our Parks, Trails & Recreation Community Projects funding supports short-term projects that unite people around the goal of promoting access to recreation opportunities. Individuals and businesses pool their resources to achieve greater community impact improving trails, updating playgrounds, and building new cabins. Our community champions and board leaders work with partners like Trail Mix, City and Borough of Juneau, Tlingit & Haida Housing Authority, Juneau Parks Foundation, and Rotary Clubs to identify specific priority projects to initiate or to support. In making this a priority area of the Foundation, our goal is to assist organizations in accomplishing priority projects. Engaged community champions, strong partner organizations, and your help are key to our success in raising funds for these projects. Explore current and past PTR Community Projects.
