This endowed fund is intended to help fund some of the unmet needs of foster children in Juneau and Southeast Alaska when other sources of financial assistance are inadequate or unavailable.
The assistance is available to benefit those children who may or may not be in a state-supported program. The funds are intended for basic needs such as bedding, shoes, clothing, school supplies, sports equipment, recreational items, inclusion in a family trip, etc.
In the future, foster parents, family members, or special advocates should apply for these funds through one of the organizations recognized by the Juneau Community Foundation.
The fund was established in memory of Jeff Lind, who passed away in August 2024 due to a heart condition. Jeff and his wife, Ann, were foster parents to over thirty children, and Jeff was like a father to many more. They both understood, better than most, how important extra funds could be for enriching the lives of children in their care.
Jeff was well known for his generosity, kindness, and helpfulness in his community. It is also the intent of this endowment to embrace these same values by providing additional financial assistance to those who have chosen to serve as foster parents, family support members, or special advocates for children in care.
