Healthy individuals are the bedrock of healthy communities. In order to achieve and maintain good health, we need to have access to reliable, affordable mental health, physical health, and social services of all kinds. High quality, community-based care, like that provided in local clinics, family service agencies, and school health centers, can help connect individuals and families with the services they need.
We support resilient social service agencies, their professionals and volunteers who are providing essential services for people in need on a daily basis. Whether it’s addressing the complex challenges of substance abuse, providing relief for victims of violence, or finding ways to improve end-of-life care, local non-profit organizations and government agencies provide critical programs and services for individuals and families.
Community Wellness Fund
The Community Wellness Fund: a fund to meet the changing social service and health needs of people living in Juneau. The Foundation is able to address emerging needs, engage in collaborative philanthropy, and award grants that will provide the most impact by addressing Juneau’s highest needs in the health and social services. This fund provides an opportunity for donors to make donations that support the needs of Juneau today and tomorrow. Your donations are combined with those of others to address current issues while building a lasting endowment to support our community. The immediate goal is to grow this fund to $1M over the next four years.
Foundation Support for Health & Social Services
The Foundation partners with our excellent nonprofits to identify gaps in services and provide direct grants to address the most pressing issues. We also act as a catalyst for collaborative efforts, bringing people together to identify community priorities and work more efficiently to tackle serious social issues including homelessness, mental health, and suicide prevention. Since 2000 the Juneau Community Foundation’s Health & Social Services funds have provided over $18M in grants to support over 50 local organizations.
