The Arts Vibrancy Endowment maintains and creates dynamic and accessible arts and culture opportunities today and for generations to come. This endowment will grow Juneau’s creative economy by supporting our artists. As the landscape of funding changes, each of us is challenged to ensure Juneau continues to be a vibrant arts community and as Juneau develops additional performing art space, supporting the artists of today and tomorrow, and developing appreciation for what they do, is critical.
This endowment, when fully funded (the goal is a $4 million endowment), will provide approximately $200,000 each year in direct grants to artists and arts organizations. As the term “endowment” indicates, the principal sum donated, combined with any additional donations, are permanently set aside. Pooling donations enables the endowment to address the changing needs and opportunities of arts and culture projects, organizations, and programs in our town, in order to achieve the greatest community impact in the arts.

Music, Visual Arts, Theater, Dance, Literature/Storytelling, Photography/Film/Digital

Grantmaking
Through the Arts Vibrancy Endowment, we are pleased to provide the Individual Artist Award grant program, which is dedicated to the development of artists in their pursuit of the creation of original works, by fostering the creative process that produces their vision. Annually, the Foundation awards $15,000- $25,000 to individual artists to support their work. See eligibility requirements, award levels, applications, and opportunities.
Fund Development and Fee
Individuals and businesses can donate any amount to this endowment at any time. Those who wish to leave a personal or family legacy can create a named Arts Vibrancy Fund, e.g., the Jane and John Doe Arts Vibrancy Endowment. The Foundation pools and invests our endowments, providing for an annual distribution. The Foundation charges a 1% fee to administer and build the Fund and carry out grant making.
